Southwest State University (SWSU), a public university formerly known as Kursk State Technical University was founded in 1964. SWSU is focused on integration of science, education and industry. Over 20 branches of university departments have been set up at the enterprises of Kursk, Zheleznogorsk and Kurchatov cities. For the last six years Southwest State University is one of the best universities in the country. SWSU is listed with the UNESCO’s (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) university department International Association of Universities (IAU) and their World List of Universities and International Handbook of Universities and other international directories.
